Own a piece of "the Pec"!

American Classic Piano will be auctioning off the historic Kawai KG-2 from El Chapultepec Jazz Club in Denver!

Thanks to the clout of Chad Aman, pianist extraordinaire (most recently of Alpha Schoolmarm Orchestra), who plays regularly at “The Pec”, we are now the proud owners of the piano that has been on that stage since the 70s being played by and crowding the stage with the likes of:

  •  Herbie Hancock
  •  Harry Connick Jr.
  •  Count Basie
  •  Bill Clinton
  •  Mick Jagger

Longer list & photos to follow…”stay tuned!”….piano tuner humor.

Chad convinced them that the piano was in need of some work to make it heard in that venue, and that they really would be better off with a smaller piano well-mic'd that would allow for more band room on the stage. We were just the folks to do that. Warren with his experience running sound for events, was able to take a sexy little ebony satin spinet and make it sound like a concert grand.

Now the plan is to give the Kawai a little time to enjoy retirement before giving it the attention it needs to become a performance instrument again for some lucky jazz lover. Although we will be refinishing the cabinet and rebuilding the action as needed, I promise we will leave the over-worked key tops and the historic gum on the underside. We don’t want to mess with history!
